I was honestly skeptical about needing a separate disc for this, but the ultra-thin slice setting makes paper-thin cucumber and carrot rounds for salads look like they came from a restaurant. Both sides click in securely and swap over in seconds, no wrestling with the attachment.
The first thing I sliced was a potato, and the ultra-thin discs came out so even they almost looked machine-made. Reversing the disc to the fine shred side for carrots took seconds, and both sides cut through everything without any crushing or tearing.
